Rise and Shine

It's 6:30 a.m. and daylight sneaks in through the crack of your curtains like an unwanted visitor. You toss your alarm clock to the ground after snoozing it three times. Then you snuggle up under the duvet. Your eyes are shut but you can't find your way back to your dreams. It's a pill you don't want to swallow but you eventually accept that it's time to face reality.

So, you get out of bed, not without giving your husband a dutiful kiss on the cheek. In the bathroom you try to wash off the mounting frustration, whispering some affirmative words to yourself to get you through your day. Carrying the weight of your household whilst your philandering husband spends more time at bars and brothels than at the office wasn't something you imagined when you said 'I do.'

But when your phone screen lights up with a good morning text from your 'work husband', you can feel colour seep into your world again. The thought of an office restroom quickie makes life seemingly bearable again.
